  ABSTRACT: Thesis presented to the program of Master of PUC Goiás in the line of research Identities, Traditions and Territoriality,that pursued the evidence of how the soccer club Goiânia Esporte Clube contributed deeply at the
  
  setting and affirmation of the political project of the new capital of the state Goiás .Throughout the research, we narrated the history of the club with written analysis of manuscripts, dissertations, thesis, newspapers, magazines, photographies and interviews with former players, fans and people that , directly or indirectly, had access to the club. In underscore, we narrated the majors events of the team(games, titles and some characters) at the period into 1936 to 1974 and, whenever possible, contrasting the main facts and occasions of the new capital of Goiás and the concepts of Politics, Representation and Memory. Within the studies, we realized that exists, fairly, few records and scientific works about Goiás’s soccer,hence, we deduce that the history of the club was made particularly briefly and most of the times superficially. We believe that the Goiânia Esporte Clube and the sports in general could contribute for the political assistance at the time where Goiânia assured as te capital of the state of Goiás. One of the hypothesis of this assertion gains strength when we present the several interstate titles , fourteen times champion and six times runner-up, in a short extend of time and by the benefits that the team had due their relationship with one of the founders Pedro Ludovico Teixeira. We will discuss through the essay this probably influence of the team well known as well by the name “Chapa Branca “ This codename, Chapa Branca, was made by the fact that the club could be powered by the Government of Goiás and the Town Hall of Goiânia with government positions, the donation of a property in Universitário district, exclusive field for trainings, and by the making of subsidy. Regarding the results of the relevance of the event, we presume that is necessary to survey historically the data wherefore we must not leave so many histories, photographies and memories, hostages of time, locked in chests, about to disappear by the actions of time and indifference.

  Dissertação apresentada ao programa de Mestrado da PUC Goiás na linha de pesquisa Identidades, Tradições e Territorialidades que, sob a perspectiva acadêmica e histórica, buscou evidenciar como o time de futebol Goiânia Esporte Clube pode ter contribuído substancialmente na consolidação e afirmação do projeto político de mudança da nova capital de Goiás. No decorrer da pesquisa, narramos à história do clube através da análise textual em manuscritos, dissertações, teses, jornais, publicações em revistas, análise de fotografias e entrevistas com ex-jogadores, torcedores e pessoas que, de forma direta e indireta, tiveram acesso ao clube. Em destaque, narramos os principais acontecimentos do time (jogos, títulos e alguns personagens) no período de 1936 ao ano de 1974 sempre que possível, correlacionando aos principais fatos e acontecimentos da nova capital de Goiás e aos conceitos de Política, Representação e Memória. Ao longo da pesquisa, percebemos que existem, relativamente, poucos registros e trabalhos científicos sobre o futebol goiano, consequentemente, inferimos que a história do clube foi feita de forma resumida e muitas vezes superficial. Acreditamos que o time de futebol Goiânia Esporte Clube e os esportes em sua variedade possam ter servido como um aporte político no período em que Goiânia se consolidava como capital do estado de Goiás. Uma das hipóteses de explicação dessa afirmação ganha força quando apresentamos os diversos títulos regionais, quatorze vezes campeão e seis vezes vice-campeão,em um período relativamente curto e pelos benefícios que o time obteve devido à influência política de seus fundadores junto com ao interventor goiano Pedro Ludovico Teixeira.Discutiremos ao longo do texto essa provável influência do time que popularmente é apelidado como o time “Chapa branca”. Esse codinome, Chapa branca, se deu pelo fato de que o clube poderia ter sido beneficiado pelo Governo de Goiás e pela Prefeitura de Goiânia com cargos aos jogadores em órgãos públicos, pela doação de um imóvel no Setor Universitário, área exclusiva para treinamentos, e por meio de subvenções. Levando em consideração a relevância do fato, acreditamos que seja necessário analisar historicamente os fatos para que não deixemos tantas histórias, fotografias e memórias ficarem reféns do tempo, presas em baús, prestes a desaparecerem pela ação do tempo e pela indiferença.
